Privacy Policy

This privacy policy (“Policy”) describes how Northshire Booksellers LLC. and its related companies (“Company”) collects, uses, and shares personal information of users of (the “Site”). This Policy also applies to any of our other websites that post this Policy, the visitors to our store, and those who opt-in to email, text, our newsletter, or other forms of communication. This Policy does not apply to third party websites that may link to the Site or those that may post different policy statements.

What information do we collect?

Information You Give Us.  We collect information such as your name, email address, username, password, phone number, mailing address, wish lists, purchase history, credit card information, and any other information you directly give us.  We collect your information when you register on our Site, place an order from us, contact customer service, subscribe to our newsletter, respond to a survey, or fill out a form.

If you purchase a product or service on our Site on the phone, or through the Store, we will also ask for your credit card number so that it may be processed by our third party payment processor.  We do not give out your credit card to other third parties unless you authorize us to do so or if it is necessary to fulfill our responsibilities, including, but not limited to, delivering a product or service you order.

Information We Get When You Use the Site.  We also obtain information about you when you use the Site, such as when you search for a particular book or item, make a purchase, use a coupon or promotional code, or request any additional services.

This includes information automatically collected by the Site, such as information about you and your computer, smart phone, tablet, or other device used to access the Site.  For example, when visiting our Site, we log your computer operating system type, browser type, browser language, the website you visited before browsing to our Site, pages you viewed, how long you spent on a page, access times, and information about your use of and actions on our Site.

Information We Get From Others.  We may get information about you from other sources.  We may add this to the information we get from you.

Third Party Social Plugins.  Our Site may use social plugins which are provided and operated by third parties, such as Facebook’s “Like” Button or a link provided in Instagram.  Through these actions, you may send third parties information about your usage of our Site. If you are not logged into your account with the third party, then the third party may not know your identity. If you are logged into your account with the third party, then the third party may be able to link information about your visit to our Site to your account with them.

Cookies. We may log information using "cookies." Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive by a website. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience on our Site.  This type of information is collected to make the Site more useful to you and to tailor the experience with us to meet your special interests and needs.  We also use cookies to help the Site remember and process the items in your shopping cart.

How do we use your information?

  • With our third party digital marketing company, Constant Contact, that facilitates newsletter distribution and other marketing emails.

  • We may share aggregated and/or anonymized data with others.
  • We may share personal information with your consent.

Information Choices & Changes

We want to be sure that we keep only the most accurate and up-to-date information about you in our records.  Therefore, whenever you believe that your contact information needs to be updated, we ask that you update your information by logging into your account.  You can also email us at to correct or update your contact information.

If you receive marketing emails, they will tell you how to opt-out or unsubscribe. 

Any short message service (SMS or texts) or multimedia message services (MMS) sent to your mobile device will indicate how to opt-out or unsubscribe upon signing up to receive those messages.  You can opt out of receiving commercial or promotional messages by texting “STOP” from the mobile device receiving the messages. To re-enable messages you can text “START” in response to an unsubscribe confirmation.  If you opt out, we may still contact you via mail, phone, email or texts related to your account, orders, and our business dealings with you.

You may send requests about personal information to our Contact Information below. You can request to change contact choices, opt-out of our sharing with others, and update your personal information.

You can typically remove and reject cookies from our Site with your browser settings. Many browsers are set to accept cookies until you change your settings. If you remove or reject our cookies, it could affect how our Site works for you.

We may change this Policy at any time.  Whenever we change this Policy, we will give reasonable notice by posting notice on our Site and we will update the date of the policy.

Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to or intended for use by children under the age of 13.  The Company does not knowingly collect personal information from children.  Usage of this website by a minor may only be done with the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.  If the Company obtains knowledge that it has personally identifiable information about a child in a retrievable form in its files, the Company will delete that information from our existing files.

How do we protect your information?

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order or enter, submit, or access your personal information.  However, no method of transmission over the internet, and no method of storing electronic information, can be 100% secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee the security of your transmissions to us and of your information that we store.

We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. After a transaction, your private information (name, address, e-mail, etc.)  may be kept on file for more than 60 days to process future transactions. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

We also have contractual obligations with our vendors designed to ensure that personal data is protected from unauthorized access or disclosure.  Company employees must abide by this Policy.  Only authorized employees are permitted to have access too personally- identifiable data about website visitors, and that access is limited to what is reasonably needed to perform an employee's responsibilities, such as providing updates or notices or customer service.  Employees who violate our privacy policies or the requirements of the employee handbook are subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.

Wireless Networks in Our Stores

When you connect your computer or mobile device to wireless networks in our store locations, we may collect information concerning your location, unique device identifiers, date and time of access, and information regarding your interaction with the Company.  Your access may be further governed by our WIFI Access User Agreement.
