Virginia Edinger - Bookseller in Manchester

The first in the Court of Thorns and Roses series, this book has everything you could want from a New Adult fantasy, and Maas has cherry-picked the best elements from the genre to create a novel with a compelling protagonist, descriptive prose, expert world-building, captivating conflict, and a passionate central romance. Filled with action, danger, and magic, and inspired by Beauty and the Beast, East of the Sun West of the Moon, and the folktale Tamlin, you'll be yearning for the next in the series before you've even finished the first. ~ Reviewed by Virginia Edinger
As painfully perfect as her debut work Hyperbole and a Half, this humorous comic memoir had me laughing out and crying real tears (my boyfriend can attest if you don't believe me). Don't ask me how, but Allie Brosh has managed to mine divorce, depression, cancer scares, and even death for moments of hilarity and poignancy. This book is the friend we all need to make us laugh when life is going to hell in a handbasket. ~ Reviewed by Virginia Edinger
Part textbook, part manual, and part grimoire, Joana van der Hoeven's The Book of Hedge Druidry is full to bursting with rich history, lush imagery, and in-depth examinations of all areas within the ancient Celtic practice of Druidry. Heighten your connection with the world around you, strengthen your bond with the ancestors that came before you, and awaken the "awen" (inspiration) inside of you. ~ Reviewed by Virginia Edinger
Told in rhyme with hidden "I Spy" details hidden on every whimsically illustrated page, this book connects favorite fairy-tale characters into one narrative and is sure to engage any child. You may even find them finishing each rhyming sentence! ~ Reviewed by Virginia Edinger
Breathing new life into the beloved 1980s middle-grade series about teenage sitters, this graphic novel series is filled with all the stories, characters, humor, and heart that made the original books a phenomenon. Now that the Babysitter's Club has made it to the small screen in a July 2020 Netflix series, there's no better time to revisit (or discover) the growing pains, laughs, and drama as a bunch of junior high girls try to figure out childcare and life. ~ Reviewed by Virginia Edinger
