A masterpiece of a modern graphic novel that tells an intimate story of a struggling Hawaiian family with a boy who inadvertently causes the death of his grandfather. Beautifully drawn, totally relatable, heartbreaking and hopeful, this excellent comic brought me to tears. ~ Reviewed by Reilly Hadden

Just an astonishing collection of comics from this ridiculously talented Chinese underground cartoonist. Part memoir, part dream diary, Night Bus portrays the author dealing with his grandmother's death and the loss of the Chinese countryside to urban development. Filled with breathtaking drawings of landscapes, forests, dreams and horrors, an essential graphic novel from an exciting new artist. ~ Reviewed by Reilly Hadden

I really enjoyed this spooky gothic fantasy adventure. Vespertine is the first in a new series about a young woman on the run from the Church because of her troubled alliance with a dark spirit that inhabits her mind. A real page turner dripping with atmosphere. An especially great read for folks who are into the The Witcher or the game Bloodborne. ~ Reviewed by Reilly Hadden

The best fantasy manga going, an exciting dungeon crawl with an extremely endearing party of adventurers who have run out of money and decided to start cooking and eating the monsters they fight. Each chapter centers around a creature encounter (hippogriff, living armor, mimic, etc.) and ends with a fairly detailed cooking segment. Ryoko Kui is a master at drawing monsters, and this is an addictive series with a lighthearted spirit, great action and a genuine sense of humor. ~ Reviewed by Reilly Hadden

A breezy graphic novel with beautiful art and a chill story about two cats on a journey from their home on the docks of coastal Italy to find a paradise that doesn’t exactly exist. During their travels they encounter various famous works of fine art, walk through them, hang out in them. These artworks are recreated nicely, including the two cats in the images.. An easygoing comic for cat kids and art kids. ~ Reviewed by Reilly Hadden
