Without a doubt, a classic! Death Note is perhaps one of the most famous manga series to exist, and for good reason. This series follows Light Yagami, a college student who finds a strange notebook that possesses the power to kill those whose name is written inside. Hell-bent on creating a crime-free world by killing those he deems immoral, Light quickly spirals with these godlike powers. However, elusive investigator L is dedicated to finding him and bringing him to justice. A brutal game of cat-and-mouse, and a psychological thriller like no other. Death Note may be the closest you can get to a “classic” in manga, and if you haven’t already, please partake. ~ Reviewed by Niamh Doherty

The long awaited crossover has finally arrived, and Mashima’s combined universe does not disappoint. Originally published as a 60th anniversary for the Weekly Shonen Magazine, this book is one for the fans!! This manga hilariously merges series’ Fairy Tail, Eden’s Zero, and Rave Master, and boy, are readers in for a ride. Mashima appeals to his fanbase and weaves wonderful character interaction between the various universes, even poking fun at his own similarities: such as Happy from Fairy Tail and Mr. Happy from Eden’s Zero, and the undeniable resemblance between each series’ main characters. Mashima HERO’S does not take itself too seriously, and is certainly an indulgent addition to Mashima’s work. ~ Reviewed by Niamh Doherty

She stumbles upon Fairy Tail, a prestigious yet rowdy guild, and Natsu Dragneel: renowned Dragon Slayer. Fairy Tail centers on friendship, adventure, and will make you laugh out loud. As someone who started with the original anime, and then read the entire manga- neither disappoints! This series allows us to continue following our favorite characters through their toughest mission yet and answers important questions that the original series left untouched (i.e. What happened to Aquarius’ Key?) Chi’s Sweet Home is a delightful slice-of-life manga that is engaging and humorous for both children and adults. This series focuses on a stray kitten, Chi, who is adopted by the Yamada family. Young Yohei and Chi quickly bond, almost like siblings as Yohei learns to sleep alone, socialize, etc… . This series is light and enjoyable: perfect for children, cat owners, and casual readers.
