This is one of the authors that I follow faithfully,Geraldine Brooks. My favorite book of hers is The People of the Book. It is a love story to the history in the art of making books and the lives of books, themselves. This is the tale of one book and the many incarnations it has led and it's influence on the people who have owned it over the centuries. The book, a famous Haggadah has it's own tales to tell from the debris found within the book itself. The conservationist, Hannah Heath also has her own story to tell us. This is a story of faith, perserverance, redemption and love on many levels; a book, a people, a culture.and an individual. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

This is a marvelous read! If you think there is nothing new to be learned in the study of a building that is more than 2000 years old and so iconic; you are in for a treat!. Connelly breaths life into the columns and caryatids. This is about Sacred Space and re-evaluating the culture that built this magnificent place that resounds in our collective soul. The Enigma is more than a discussion of repatriation of the Elgin Marbles and restoration.; this is about how we relate to sacred buildings and their history and why the Parthenon in particular is so important to reconsider myth, ritual and memory in history and our place within it. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

This is a first novel for Holsinger; an English Medieval scholar and from the way it was written this might be the first installment of a series. I was intrigued and pleasantly surprised by the way the author utilized an d explained 15thc. language, dialect and slang. Those readers who might be offended by some of the words and situations portrayed(startlingly; often contemporary feeling) in this novel may be surprised by the origin of some of those words and slang. Holsinger writes deftly and very detailed; I would call it wordy but winsome and rich in the texture of England at the end of the 15th century A right "goode" read. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

This Feb. release was one I have waited for since Juliet, Fortier's first novel.

This book , a mystery within a mystery within mythology and folklore. Two women, 4 continents and 1200 years; oh yes and treasure. This is a marvelleous retelling of the folklore and myths surrounding the Amazons, Troy and the Aeneid. Rich in detail Fortier combines the lesser known Amazonian tales and weaves a a new story. The characters are fun, with foibles and strength and they do something I love; they breathe and get dirty and make mistakes. Now I'm going to have to wait for another of Anne's books to be written! ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan
