This is a very readable informative review of the most important archaeological finds in Britain in recent memory. Not only is this book insightful for the sites discussed but it also a review of the great changes in methodology, interpretation and diagnostics. Thoroughly enjoyable Pitts travels from the near recent past of AD 1000 to the far past of 400,000 years ago filled cannibals, vikings and metal detectorists. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

This is a great new police procedural set in contemporary Galway Ireland with Inspector Cormac Reilly. Here academia comes in conflict with politics and a pharmaceutical giant .This is so reflective of Galway as it is today; a medieval city with a University center surrounded by all modern tech giant companies and a surging population. All of these components makes for a tightly woven mystery. I recommend book 1 The Ruin as well.

This is truly a twisty work of fiction. It left me with chills after reading it in one sitting.
The story of ancient artifacts and the perils of owning pieces of the past but also bearing the responsibility of history and the lust of ephemera. Set in the year 1468 in the mystical lands of Wessex England, this mystery is dark and apocryphal in many different directions.

This is the perfect book for anyone who wants a cleareyed, scientific and succinct review of evidence of climate change brought on by humanity since 1968. By choosing a specific date (Jarhen's birthdate) the author not only picks a critical date in social history but also in scientific history. Jarhen also makes the double edge note of not overwhelming the reader but also imparting a sense of immediacy but also of responsibility. Put it on your reading list next to Greta Thumberg's No One Is Too Small to Make A Difference. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

The Mirror and the Light (vol.3) in the Thomas Cromwell Trilogy; which began in Wolf Hall. Mantel's work is like a fine Tudor jewel, sharply crafted and complex. Cromwell who is generally seen as a villain or ruthless here tells his story of being the crafter and enforcer of the Tudor Reformation ( warts and all). Turning history inside out and creating a unique and intimate point of view in the messy, cutthroat history of Henry VIII. This book was hard to put down. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan

Extraordinary is an understatement both of the woman and the book. This is a different view of a person who is mostly known as Nero's mother, but who wielded true power in patriarchal Rome. ~ Reviewed by Maeve Noonan
