For must of her life, Sadie's world was a normal amount of messed up - alcoholic mom with an endless parade of awful boyfriends, a trailer that's falling apart, a bratty little sister - same old story. Until the night her sister doesn't come home. Mattie's body was found the next day.
Now it's a year latter, Sadie has disappeared, and her grandma contacts West McCray, a podcaster who focuses on small town stories, and asks him to tell the world about Mattie and Sadie, and maybe find her living girl.
Gripping, mysterious, and uniquely told with alternating chapters, this was one of the cooler books I read this summer. Fans of My Favorite Murder and other True Crime podcasts should get this one on audio! ~ Reviewed by Leah Moore

A funny, irreverent ride around London in the 90s!
Johanna, pen name Dolly Wilde, is a 20yr old music mag writer who doesn't hold back.
But she is tired of writing snarky, jaded negative reviews and instead submits an article on the joy of being a teenage-girl-obsessive-music-fan. It does not go over well.
The male dominated industry does not care for the wants, needs and sex drives of that half of the population, despite the fact that women buy a lot of albums. Talk of the town for her rebel attitude and cool hat, Johanna enjoys her fame... for now.
Daringly truthful, outrageous and funny, I laughed and learned, cheered for her and felt righteous anger for her. It is rare to have so many feeling during one novel, so pick this up and let out your inner feminist. ~ Reviewed by Leah Moore

Monsters! Stomping out of the sea, attacking the city! It's super cool! At least until it actually starts happening in real life, not just in Zoe's favorite movies.
A fun story of how tough it can be to find your true friends, especially if one of them lives under the ocean and is a monster.
I loved Zoe and her passion for robot-building, and the shenanigans of her triplet siblings really made me laugh! A great new graphic novel adventure. ~ Reviewed by Leah Moore

At 3 years old Jarrett was pouring his own breakfast cereal, and his grandparents knew something had to change. They took him in, and his loving, addicted mother became a penpal, flickering in and out of his childhood.
It's a good and interesting childhood, full of good people who made not so good choices, and following his life from birth to highschool graduation. Comic-memoirs are a unique kind of book and this one is a masterpiece. With every word, we get to know Jarrett, and with every picture we come to understand him. He shows us more then he tells, and that is a joy. ~ Reviewed by Leah Moore

Fantastic historical fiction, focusing on an internment camp near Houston, TX, where American men of German and Japanese descent were held on flimsy charges - and most astonishing, their wives and children could apply to join them... Haruko and Margot, daughters of accused men, are here for that reason, though both are American citizens. Behind barbed wire, they attend the small school, live in Victory Huts, shop in the commissary, swim in the pool... it's a serial, distopian version of 1940s teenage life, that was all too real for many.
My heart was breaking and my mind was in shock at this shameful act by the Dept of Justice. Whole families were held in camps, some waiting to be shipped "back" to a "homeland" that they may never have even seen.
Shocking, and made so human in this well-told story! ~ Reviewed by Leah Moore
