I was given this book as a gift many years ago and have since bestowed copies on many friends. It is a wise and witty collection of essays on life and love of all kinds. This book makes perfect light reading for bedtime and will reaffirm your faith in the natural world's ability to make sense of human existence. ~ Reviewed by Karen Frank

Still the best book to have on hand if you want to get together with other musicians and have a grand sing-along! I have also given this to lots of parents of young children so that they can enjoy songs both ancient and modern as a family and keep the tradition of folk music alive. ~ Reviewed by Karen Frank

If you love your ancient Celtic history you will swallow this book whole. There is a great deal of richness and detail to lead you through the complexities of ancient Irish history, much of which we know through legends and the long oral tradition. I have read all of Rutherfurd's books and his touch is sure and luminous as always. ~ Reviewed by Karen Frank

This is a dark and intricate story involving a mysterious rare book and its author. It takes place in post revolution 1950's Barcelona and is full of gothic images and interesting characters. The plot twists are many and the overall effect is gripping and sensual. It is certainly a different atmosphere from what we are used to in a modern novel. I loved it. ~ Reviewed by Karen Frank

A lovely and very interesting book with some unique perspectives. A young Canadian girl suffers a childhood illness which leaves her deaf. Her journey through life, learning and love will make you her friend. The novel takes place during WWI and I became deeply involved with what it meant to be Canadian during that struggle.

This book is a unique and poignant perspective on the times, as well as the concept of deafness, not necessarily confined to loss of hearing. ~ Reviewed by Karen Frank
