There are puns, pizza, moon dust, and a poetry writing/quoting worm to name a few things that this story has. Sent by Earth scientists and generals (with interesting colloquialisms) to stop the space rats from eating the moon, our hero cat must save the day. When there, they meet new friends (a toenail clipping robot and the Moon Queen to name a few) that will get them through danger and mayhem. Old fashioned villains, villains that want to be heroes but are only villains, spaceships, and food in tubes fill out the edges. Goofy humor that is more than punny are the words of the day. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

She is smart, she is clever, she has ideas! Shirley, when she's left in charge of the family store, has the best idea ever: if you purchase anything, you receive a surprise. That surprise is the gefilte fish the family cannot sell. But of course since the register does not see profits, the family does not think it was a good idea. Or was it? A fantastic story of family, community and having the ingenuity to take a chance on something (and the someones) you love. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

Did you know people could have been wearing Lena Bryant and not Lane Bryant clothing? Due to an honest mistake, Lena Bryant signed “Lane Bryant” to her bank application. And from there, history was made. And not just the history of a Jewish immigrant. Or of women. Or of fashion. But of how a nation looked at all of that. This amazing story is told with wonderfully beautiful illustrations that are a story within themselves. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

It might be hard to read about grief while going through the “immediate afterwards,” but this book helps with that. The chapters are short, and the simple illustrations give a lightness to what is happening. It is a chat between you and the author. It is not “how to grieve” but “how we grieve.” The author has “been there” and gives you tips on how to word your grief. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

I wanted to hug Every. Single. One (okay, maybe not the water bear or the naked mole rat, and the thorny dragon might be a bit sharp) of the unique animals in this book. This alphabet book goes beyond alligators and finds fossa, axolotl, yeti crabs, and yes, water bears. Aimed at the alphabet book crowd (or collectors of alphabet books), this is a book for animal lovers of all ages. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette
