My grandmother's finest illustrations adorn this completely charming "feminist" tale of a mother bunny taking on the job of the Easter Bunny. Simply lovely. ~ Reviewed by Erik Barnum

A fascinating book on a unique fish - yes, they are fish. While many may shy away from this book because of the "slime factor", it is their loss. This is a truly engrossing (pun intended) study of a unique fish that is treated with disgust in the western world, is a multibillion dollar business in Asia, and is revered in the Pacific Rim. ~ Reviewed by Erik Barnum

An exhaustive, but not exhausting, biography of arguably the best screen actor of all time. Full of new information and insights into the character of this most complex, haunted, and supremely talented man. Thanks to Tracy's daughter, Curtis had unique access to Tracy's papers and writings. Curtis' writing style is crisp and no nonsense, making this the definitive biography of Tracy and a model for performing arts biographies in the future. Highly recommended. ~ Reviewed by Erik Barnum

The singer/actor/activist takes a dispassionate look at his passionate and complicated life with an honesty and clarity that demands attention. While most memoirists are either apologists for their lives or are just not very self aware, Belafonte confronts his life head-on and with the kind of no-nonsense attitude that he brought to his career and his politics. A terrific memoir of a national icon, but also a great chronicle of the times he lived in. Highest recommendation. ~ Reviewed by Erik Barnum

Susan Orlean, author of The Orchid Thief, has written a wonderful book about an unlikely subject. Rin Tin Tin: The Life and the Legend. Orlean's deft prose illuminates not just the life of the subject but the world he inhabited for eleven generations. It is chock full of fascinating anecdotes and great writing. To call it a great "dog book" is to give it very short shrift. It is a great book. I was bushwacked by this book, expecting an entertaining read about a beloved dog and coming away with so very much more. Highest recommendation, I am a complete sap for this. ~ Reviewed by Erik Barnum
