A wonderfully authentic memoir by one of the beloved Fab Five from Netflix’s Queer Eye. We get to meet the real Tan France, from his childhood growing up in the north of England, his various jobs in the fashion business, to marrying his love-at-first-sight husband and moving to Utah, and, of course, getting the dream job which has made him one of the world’s sweethearts. This reads like an intimate chat with Tan himself, his voice shines through, and you can hear it in his words, I thoroughly enjoyed it. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

A masterful piece of storytelling, I could not put down this book.
This is a modern literary gothic novel, but also, an epic love story and wow was it good! Some people find themselves gifted with the ability to be a Binder, whether they want it or not, one who has the power to bind memories into books. These tend to be bad, or traumatic, memories, ones that people would rather forget. But what if you had memories bound that you want back?
We follow Emmet, as he finds out he is a born Binder, and a very talented one at that, as he begins his apprenticeship in a ramshackle country manor house, all the way to the seedier world of the big city, and the different lives, and ethics, of the binding trade and it’s players. It is also a beautiful love story, which is slowly revealed as the book progresses, and you will be very much drawn to these characters, and find yourself rooting for them. A book of three parts, which will keep you flipping pages into the wee hours. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

Horowitz is such a clever writer, and this follow up to “The Word is Murder” is just as smart. We again get to revel in the author’s likability, along with the hard to like Detective Hawthorne, as we are carried on a tide of twists and turns. A highly enjoyable way to spend a weekend. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

Why do gulls annoy people so much? These beautiful, and highly adaptable, birds have found a way not only to survive, but thrive in our climate damaged world, and so we tend to come across them on a more daily basis. Why do we treasure the appearance of a woodpecker, or bluebird, but show disdain for the gull that swoops through a supermarket parking lot. This beautifully written book, looks at our relationship with these majestic birds and their ability to thrive on the trash that we are so good at creating. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

This book hit all the points for me, it is a testament to the human trait we are missing in our modern world. What does it mean to us, as a species, to walk? According to Kagge, it is everything. It not only is our most natural waking state, so necessary to our wellbeing, through breath and exercise, but also to our mental state, and our connection with our surroundings. It has become common knowledge that being in nature can be healing, and this book takes it even further, it is also necessary to our creative selves, as well as our stress levels, to walk alone in harmony with our world, allows our brains the space they need to create. Without this essential component, are we only existing? ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty
