This book will have you laughing out loud! Mortimer introduces us to the many varied, and often eccentric, characters who make bees a part of their everyday lives, in the most readable, and delightful way. Not a how-to, but much more of a why, in regard to beekeeping, rich in history, science and anecdotes. For anyone curious about bees, this book is a must read. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

I devoured this in a couple of days, it was such a compassionate and compelling read. Harkness’ most recent breakdown, after many years of anxiety and depression, led him to nature, and most specifically the observation of birds. Medications and more traditional routes to recovery were just not working, and yet, the most simple of ways, to immerse oneself in nature seemed to be the way for Harkness to find a respite, and more importantly, a path to healing. This book delights in the beauty of nature, the importance of slowing oneself down and making those minute observations that give us connection with our world. I highly recommend this to all. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

“For even if we don't believe in miracles, they are there, and they are waiting for us to find them.”
Macdonald’s essays in this book are as much like miracles as the subjects she writes about. With writing so beautiful and observations so keen, this is a book to be savored, and I know I’ll be dipping in and out of it for years to come, a true treasure. I cannot wait to recommend this book to all those curious about the natural world. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

A completely delightful, charming and romantic debut novel from an author I know I’ll be following from now on. Tiffy is reeling from a particularly bad break-up and needs somewhere to live asap, the downside is, it needs to be cheap. So, when she finds an ad for a flatshare she jumps on it. She’ll have the apartment from 6pm through the night until 9am and weekends, and her flatmate, Leon, will have it from 9am through 6pm everyday, therefore never meeting. However, they get in the habit of leaving each other notes, and find it’s easier to really learn to know someone you’ve never seen, than either one of them could have predicted. ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

Intelligent, quick witted, and insightful delve into a modern day feminist life, and all the idiosyncrasies that involves. Unsworth takes a deep dive into the effects that today’s technology has on our relationships, and what being a woman today entails. Both charming and hilarious, this novel does not disappoint, I defy you to put it down for even a second! ~ Reviewed by Becky Doherty

We catch up with her many years later, when she suspects that she may be in love with her best friend, only to be asked by him to be his best woman in his wedding. Emmie Blue is devastated, but also wants to be the best, best woman she can be for her loyal, and supportive friend, how she pulls this off, and the next chapter in her own romantic story will have you turning pages long into the night.
