The people behind the new store:

Chris Morrow, Co-Owner
Chris grew up in the bookstore, which was started when he was nine years old. He received a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College and an M.S. in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand and a trainer of Peace Corps volunteers in Nepal. Chris has been involved in the bookstore full time since 1998. He lives with his wife, two children, many sheep and chickens, and too many house pets in Weston, VT.
Nancy Scheemaker,General Manager
A bookseller with the Northshire since 1999, Nancy Scheemaker has served in many key roles at the bookstore, most recently as Director of Community Programs. Her previous professional experiences include work in community service, counselling and public relations on behalf of Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth, mediation services, non-profit management support, and litigation research in Washington, DC.
Nancy is a graduate of SUNY Albany where she received both her B.A. in History and Criminal Justice, and M.A., with Honors, from the department of African American Studies. A long time resident of Washington County, she resides in a house full of books in Shushan, NY with her husband Todd DeGarmo, Director of the Folklife Center at Crandall Public Library, and their three grown children.
Rachel Person, Event Manager
Rachel Person spent six years curating and producing literary programming at Symphony Space in New York City. During those years she served as Associate Director of the series Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story, heard nationwide on public radio (and locally on WAMC). In Saratoga Springs, Rachel served in the Community Relations Office at Skidmore College, where she acted as Art Partner Liaison for SaratogaArtsFest. She is on the Executive Board of Saratoga Reads and the Board of Directors of the Adirondack Center for Writing. A graduate of Albany High School and Princeton University, she lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband, writer Steve Sheinkin, and their two children.
