Beloved bestselling author Alice Hoffman will join us to discuss her new novel The World That We Knew with Joe Donahue of WAMC Northeast Public Radio as part of our Off the Shelf series on Saturday, October 19 at 8 pm in the Broadway Ballroom at the Saratoga Hilton.

Tickets are required for this event and space is limited.

About The World That We Knew:

A Jewish woman summons up a golem to protect her daughter during the child's perilous journey from Berlin to escape Nazi persecution. Although the girl resents her protector assuming a role that once belonged to her beloved parent, a bond develops between the pair, making her mother's final admonition to her even more difficult to obey. The author, as she did in The Museum of Extraordinary Things, seamlessly weaves history with thrilling fiction, adding an element of folklore to this moving story of tenacity, courage, and faith. — Alden Graves, Northshire Bookseller

“Alice Hoffman’s new novel will break your heart, and then stitch it back together piece by piece. It’s about love and loss, about history and the world today, about what happens when man goes against the laws of nature for good and for evil. It’s my new favorite Hoffman book—and if you know how much I adore her writing, that’s truly saying something.” —Jodi Picoult

OFF THE SHELF: Authors in Conversation - a partnership between the Northshire Bookstore and WAMC Northeast Public Radio - a live stage event featuring Joe Donahue of The Book Show interviewing authors. Each event is taped and later aired on WAMC, reaching thousands of listeners.
