On a winter day in 1903, in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, two unknown brothers from Ohio changed history. But it would take the world some time to believe what had happened: the age of flight had begun, with the first heavier-than-air, powered machine carrying a pilot.Who were these men and how was it that they achieved what they did? David McCullough tells the surprising, profoundly American story of Wilbur and Orville Wright.

  • All signing will be signature only. Sorry, no personalization.
  • All patrons in the signing line must have at least one copy of The Wright Brothers. Mr. McCullough will sign backlist for patrons who are also having a copy of The Wright Brothers signed.
  • Audience members may take photographs while their books are being signed, but there will be no posed photography.

The Wright Brothers releases May 5th. Customers may pick up their book at the event, or in the store between May 5th and June 1st. Customers must present ticket to receive their copy of the book. 

Travelling from Vermont? Take the bus! We’ve arranged for two buses, up to 28 passengers, to travel to this event from the Manchester store. Attendees travelling via bus will have select seating at the event and be first in line for the signing. Click here for more details.

David McCullough has twice received the Pulitzer Prize, for Truman  and John Adams, and twice received the National Book Award, for The Path Between the Seas and "Mornings on Horseback". His other acclaimed books are 1776, Brave Companions, The Johnstown Flood, The Great Bridge, and The Greater Journey. He is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian award.
