Join us as Leland Kinsey and Leah Umansky read selected poems from their collections.
Leland Kinsey was born and raised on a farm in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, where his ancestors settled in the early 1800s. He has conducted writing workshops for the Vermont Arts Council and the Children's Literacy Foundation at over 100 schools in New Hampshire and Vermont. Since receiving his M.A., Leland has worked as a farmhand, printer, horse trainer and has taught courses at Elderhostel in writing, birding, astronomy and canoeing. He has published six collections of poetry, including Sledding on Hospital Hill, The Immigrant's Contract and, most recently, Winter Ready:Poems. He lives near the Canadian border with his wife and three children.
Leah Umansky is the author of the Mad-Men inspired chapbook, Don Dreams and I Dream and the full-length poetry collection, Domestic Uncertainties. She is the curator of the COUPLET Reading Series in NYC, and is a contributing writer for both Tin House and Luna Luna Magazine. Her poems can be seen in POETRY Magazine, Poetry Review, Barrow Street among others. Flavorwire named her #7 of 23 People Who Will Make You Care About Poetry in 2013.
