Journalist Stephen Williams will join us to discuss this fascinating collection of his articles on Saratoga County, providing a closeup perspective on the events that have impacted our region over the last fifteen years.

In this collection of his Off the Northway columns written for the Schenectady Daily Gazette, Williams brings unique insights to the recent history of Saratoga County in upstate New York, including on-the-ground coverage of how semiconductor giant GlobalFoundries came to locate a $15 billion plant in the town of Malta and how the county has grown and changed since construction of Interstate-87, the Adirondack Northway, in the 1960s.

"A super journalist and gifted writer, Steve Williams delivers a penetrating and insightful first-hand account of the historic events that shaped Saratoga County into a vibrant center of innovation and growth. I learned a lot from perusing these stories." -- Ray O'Conor, author, "She Called Him Raymond" and former Saratoga County economic development official.

Stephen Williams is retired from the Schenectady Daily Gazette after a 42-year newspaper career, nearly all that time spent covering Saratoga County, the fastest-growing county in upstate New York. This is his first book.
