Northshire Bookstore is proud to partner with Vermont writer Ellen Ecker Ogden to present a two part virtual writing course on crafting a family cookbook
Has anyone ever said, “ You’re cooking is so good, you should write a cookbook?” Well, that happened to me. And I finally said, “Yes!”
But it was not as easy as I thought. What I didn’t know is that it takes more than simply having good recipes to create a cookbook. It’s about story telling.
If I could go back and give myself advice, I would say:
- Recipe writing is an art and science. It takes time to learn.
- Immerse in the world of food writing to find your voice.
- Learn professional food styling tips for better photos.
This is what you are going to learn in this virtual writing class. So, get ready to start organizing your recipes, gathering your stories and writing your own family cookbook.
In this two-part class, you will learn how to write a proper recipe, as well as select the best recipes for your book based on your theme. I’ll teach you food styling tips and how to layout your book for printing. Plus we’ll write memoir to describe those flavors from your childhood.
Cost: $195. Limited to 20 students.
Time: 9:30 – 12 Noon
Dates: Saturday, Novemebr 6th & Saturday, November 13th
Ellen Ecker Ogden is a food and garden writer, and author of six books. The idea for this class comes from her deep love of food, family and story telling. There is a tradition to writing recipes and passing them along because every recipe tells a story – whether it is included in the recipe or simply in our mind, as we taste.
