How to Write a Family Cookbook

Writing your family cookbook is more than simply recording the recipes. It’s a way to preserve family traditions and gives you a place to share stories, photos and techniques. There is no better time to begin than right now to gather the recipes and the stories, and layout your cookbook for printing – ready in time for holiday gifts to your family!

Ellen Ecker Ogden has been writing cookbooks for over a decade, and she is ready to teach you how to gather your recipes and put together the stories for your own book. Ideal as a project to do together as a family for a birthday or special reunion

Join her for a four-part cookbook writing class at the Northshire Bookstore beginning on Thursday, October 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th @4 PM – 5:30 PM.

In this class you will learn:

  • Recipes: How to write a recipe & establish your cookbook style.
  • Selection: Gather family recipes & the stories.
  • Writing: Practice personal writing to develop your voice.
  • Design: Basics of layout, photography & design to take your book to final production.
