Join us at Nortshire for a joint presentation brought to you by the Manchester Community Library, the Manchester Historical Society, and Northshire Bookstore about the Colburn House!
4869 Main Street was for more than a century the home to the Colburn House which opened in 1872. In 1976 Ed and Barbara Morrow established the Northshire Bookstore on Main Street, but as their business grew, they soon realized they needed a larger space and took the risk of buying the Colburn House to make it into a bookstore in 1985. After a year and a half of renovations, the new Northshire Bookstore opened, and their risky venture has paid the community untold dividends up to the present day.
Shawn Harrington, curator of the Manchester Historical Society, along with the Morrow family, will present a look at the history of this storied building on Main Street.
This free program is part of the Library's Summer Wednesdays Series.
