The Bromley family has been in the town of Danby nearly as long as my own. My father and Hugh grew up together and Joan was our beloved town librarian. Their farm is truly quite a sightly place and perhaps a final glimpse of the hard business of farming. ~ Reviewed by Sarah Donner

If you have little or no knowledge of the history of New England then this is a very interesting starting point. This book will substantially increase your knowledge of the New England landscape from the 1600's to 1800's. It will also provide a glimpse at the lives of Colonists and Native Americans from this era. While I found this book very easy to read I have to admit that the afterward, explaining how the book came to be written, was almost as interesting as the book itself.

The most original - and well-supported - explanation of the insanity in Salem in a very long time - perhaps ever.

Deserves a Pulitzer! It wasn't what they ate. It wasn't teen hysteria. It wasn't feuding villagers and please forget "The Crucible". Brilliant! ~ Reviewed by Bill Lewis
