Reading this incredible thriller felt like drifting through a foggy maze, lost in the fantastical world of Mirrorland that twins El and Cat created when they were children in their Edinburgh home. Pushed apart in adulthood from unforeseen circumstances, betrayal, and a man, the twins go on for years and oceans without each other, until El, who had moved back into their childhood home with her husband, suddenly goes missing. With strategic pacing and a vivid imagination, Johnstone thrusts you down the rabbit hole, to Mirrorland, unable--and unwilling--to escape. ~ Reviewed by Kirstin Swartz

Alice is an aspiring documentary filmmaker who takes a small team to the abandoned town of Silvertjärn to uncover its secrets of how an entire village disappeared without a trace. Soon though, things start to go wrong, and as her team begins disappearing one by one, she realizes the town isn’t as abandoned as she originally thought.
Intense and exceptionally creepy, Sten does a wonderful job combining fear and curiosity into a page-turning descent into madness. This has some serious Blair Witch Project and the Lost Colony of Roanoke vibes. A must read! ~ Reviewed by Angela Turon

A delicious and creepy story, which reminded me a bit of watching the Blair Witch Project movie. Alice Lindstedt, a documentary filmmaker, has been obsessed with the missing/vanished residents of the town dubbed "The Lost Village" since childhood. Her grandmother's entire family disappeared and what remained was a dead woman tied to a tree and an infant found crying in a building. She persuades a team to go and investigate and immediately unusual and threatening things begin to happen and they feel they are being watched...what IS the secret this abandoned village is hiding? Classic Scandinavian noir with a totally unexpected ending. It is fast paced and will keep you guessing. ~ Reviewed by Tambra Johnson Reap
