This book was intense. Flowers' background of true crime through her time as a podcaster heightens her writing and makes the reader believe the story actually happened. Margot, an investigative journalist, has packed up her entire life to help out her sick uncle at his home in Wakarusa. She hasn't been back since her best friend January Jacobs was found murdered in a ditch, 25 years ago, at just 6 years old. Her killer was never caught. When a little girl named Natalie Clark disappears 15 minutes from Wakarusa in Indianapolis, Margot can't help but think the two girls are connected. Margot knows she must chase the story, but what she finds out will leave you shaking to the core.
The ending had me so surprised I felt like I needed to question everything I had just read. ~ Reviewed by Kylie Thalheimer

Against his better judgment, former deputy Nathan Waymaker agrees to look into the sudden death of a beloved preacher of a Black church in a small town in the South. Nathan should have followed his instincts. His investigation leads him into a dark and dangerous domain ruled by a drug kingpin and it ignites a high octane affair with the preacher's porn star daughter. Cosby is a master at drawing the reader into a world where every knock on the door sounds like a harbinger of death. This tough and gritty thriller is the republication of the first novel by one the the most promising writers in the genre. ~ Reviewed by Alden Graves

It's not so much about figuring out who the bad guy is--although good luck with that--but very much about the characters in this immersive Swedish crime novel. Set in the late 1980's and in the present, the story focuses on the small town cop obsessed with the attacks that unsettle his community, his partners, his son, the victims' families, and ultimately the writer who tries to unravel it all years later. The award-winning Carlsson has crafted a thought-provoking thriller that explores questions about the nature of truth and the meaning of it all. Highly recommended. ~ Reviewed by Stan Hynds

Lisa Jewell you beautiful human. Why are you so good at writing addicting mysteries? I really had no idea where this book was going to go, and I'm glad I dived in blind. Just a few words to sum up this thriller: Enchanting; Riveting; Haunting; Suspenseful; Shameful; Beautiful. And, like all of Lisa's books, at its core this book is about family. What is a family? How does it shape you? How does it break you? And what do you become after a great loss. All in all, not disappointed in the slightest, other than that the story is already over. ~ Reviewed by Kirstin Swartz

This book will take you on a wild ride of confusion (in the best way possible) and enamored by the main characters character development. You see the main character wake up everyday in a different body, but the kick is, its the same day being relived over and over until he figures out how to break the loop. ~ Reviewed by Ashley Newberg

Fans of Mayor will not be disappointed with his latest installment. What starts out as a seemingly simple stolen car case morphs into a cross-state robbery spree which becomes more complicated and deadly as it moves along. Although this is the well plotted, complex police procedural we’ve come to expect from Mayor, even more enjoyable is the return to the focus on Joe and his eccentric, but lovable, squad. ~ Reviewed by Tambra Johnson Reap
