Although purely fiction, this fascinating, often frightening, mystery made me contemplate the actual possibility of ghosts. The author seamlessly interweaves the paranormal with the “normal” in this mystery of disappearance and possible murder of several girls in and around a run-down motel in a small town in upstate NY. Switching between 1982 and 2017, the story follows a young girl investigating the disappearance 35 years earlier of her aunt by following in her footsteps. From the first chapter, the reader will be completely engrossed in this haunting, creepy, and entirely absorbing mystery. ~ Reviewed by Tambra Johnson Reap

NVK was given a terrible review by Publisher’s Weekly. Thankfully I read the book before I read the review.
This novel is an overlapping story. It’s a flashpoint of sudden sexual desire that smolders. It’s when the “what if” actually happens. It’s the story of a curse brought about by a singular act to survive. It is a love story and horror story all in one. So, to the reviewer at PW ~ you were looking for something else. I found what the author intended. ~ Reviewed by Sarah Donner

An ancient burial ground. A mythical creature that preys on all lost souls who enter. A family tragedy almost too horrifying to imagine, described in such grisly detail, it proves that Stephen King is the King of horror.
Deemed King's scariest novel ever written, Pet Sematary plays a psychological cat and mouse game with you, making you question your inner sanity and roll through the tides of grief with the characters, relating to them in some way. If you were given a choice to allow your loved one to rest peacefully, or have just one more day with them despite the ominous warnings, which would you pick? ~ Reviewed by Angela Turon

A grisly, unspeakable murder. A seemingly innocent baseball coach. Two stories intertwined in one. Evidence places him at the scene. His incontrovertible alibi places him elsewhere. What lies hidden within the darkest corners of one’s mind? What sort of monster is capable of committing such heinous acts?
Perhaps one of Stephen King’s most darkest, twisted, creepiest novels, The Outsider latches onto you with its steely grip within the first few pages, and refuses to let go until the very end when a twist drops so severely that it leaves you stumbling to make sense of it. ~ Reviewed by Angela Turon
The Gothic Novel genre is a unique one, dictated as much by the feeling it invokes as any particular subject. A quick search for a definition will most likely bring you to something like - “an English genre of fiction popular in the 18th to early 19th centuries, characterized by an atmosphere of mystery and horror and having a pseudo-medieval setting.” I would say the horror is usually more than subtle, suspenseful kind that sets the hairs on the back of your neck upright and makes you just a little afraid of the dark for a while after reading.

Once again the maestro pulls at heart-strings while attempting to bring us all together. King is in true form here, drawing well-defined and uniquely real characters, as they show us that despite our differences we can all come together as people and share our lives with one another, that through tragedy and triumph we can all become elevated. ~ Reviewed by Alex Bell
