This is a story that any Green Lantern would have to face: the battle a Green Lantern must face while they still are facing their fear of failure, wondering if they are good enough and why does everyone think they need a babysitter? (Okay, that last part is probably just 13-year-old Tai Pham). Bad puns, a strong support system for the newest (and possibly youngest Green Lantern). There are secrets with twist and turn on every page. While age appropriate, the illustrations are superhero gritty. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

This is an interesting, longer graphic novel of gender identity, family and politics. While heavy on the art, the text showing a political coup and finding yourself and strengths unfolds smoothly. Hawke and his twin Grayson must hide in the Communion of the Blue or else, but is safe good enough when their cousin has usurped their grandfathers’ line? Magic and realism blend together in a good new middle reader. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

This book is about basketball and life, too. It is about one extremely special high school team. We see their struggles and how they solve them (or do not solve as the case might be). There is the present, history and the stories of the people you see walk onto the pages. Yang shows how growth happens even with adults, he shows the good and bad, he shows how he struggles to balance being an author/illustrator, father and teacher. He presents everything interestingly and realistically. He shows life. You do not have to like basketball to enjoy this book, you just need to like a good, strong story with some amazing artwork. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette
