An honest and powerful book that should be in every bookstore and school library. The parallels between the cricket farm and a woman's experience in this male dominated world were unexpected but worked for the story. Kate Messner does an excellent job of creating an engaging story, while also sharing words of wisdom that the intended audience (Middle-grade) can understand. ~ Reviewed by Cassidy Washburn

If you loved the Infernal Devices, you will adore this book. You can expect plenty of action, mystery, and romance in this latest installment to the shadowhunter world. Jem, Will, and Tessa play a major part in this novel, but you're also introduced to a new group of strong characters; all with different backgrounds, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Even if you haven't read a single shadowhunter book before, you can still enjoy this read without too much difficulty. I can't wait to see where this series goes! ~ Reviewed by Cassidy Washburn

Havenfall is a secret safe haven for all four realms in the universe, located on the Earth realm in Colorado. The story follows Maddie, a teenager with baggage who is the niece of the current Havenfall innkeeper, and she yearns to follow in her uncle’s footsteps one day and the next Innkeeper. But all hope of safety within Havenfall’s borders is suddenly shattered by the door to a previously sealed world cracking open and a monster being unleashed on the grounds. Suddenly, Maddie has the leadership she’s always wanted, but with that also comes her inexperience, betrayals and personal awakenings. High fantasy, great world-building narrative, the potential for a love triangle and sprinkles of LGBTQ+ representation mixed together make this book a strong opener for its duology. ~ Reviewed by Kirstin Swartz

When Mia moves to VT, she's still mentally - and physically - recovering from a broken arm and a past she'd rather much forget. Bouncing between making new friends, convincing people to introduce crickets into their palates, and unraveling the mystery behind her grandmother's cricket farm sabotage, will Mia be able to overcome her fear, and muster enough courage to speak up?
A compelling story about friendship, family, and finding your voice, Chirp is full of heart, honesty and the courage to do what is right. ~ Reviewed by Angela Turon

The highlights of Ms. Mitchell’s life are the focus of this picture book biography. Things you might not know about her and familiar gems, grace the pages. See how Mitchell influenced the folk music scene and how it influenced her. (But how could it not when you hang around the likes of Bob Dylan and Mama Cass?) The art is mixed media with realistic abstract elements. They are colorful and bold. Great for all ages. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette
