Nine of today’s great young adult authors (and a Ray Bradbury treat) create science fiction stories that are out of this world. A planetary attack and only a Boy Scout to stop it; a basketball game with some unusual rules; Robot Shoes; a young bouncer in her brothers too big armor and much more combine humor, mystery and many twists and turns. Great for fans of the other titles in the Guys Read series (Funny Business; Thriller and The Sports Pages), sci-fi fans or people who just enjoy a good read! Ages 10 to 14.

Boy isn't your typical teen; his parents, The Monster and Bride, want him to live with those Frankensteins. He runs away and meets the granddaughters of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, who teach him what it means to be a human and a monster. Hilarious, but some mature themes and language. ~ Reviewed by Jeanette

Man Made Boy Makes Your Day

Sometimes you find the right book at the right time: sometimes it just falls into your lap and sometimes you have to go hunting for it. I had to hunt for Man Made Boy by Jon Skovron. But it was worth the looking through all of the early reading copies. This odd looking cover caught my eye. And I started to read....why not? I thought. I am between books...it is here..I am here....so open to page one.

I didn't want to stop! (READ MORE)

It is the blog of the sequel. I have just finished two great sequels to fantastic series. The first is Wednesdays in the Tower by Jessica Day George sequel to Tuesdays at the Castle and the other is The Unseen World of Poppy Malone V02: A Gust of Ghosts by Suzanne Harper  sequel to The Unseen World of Poppy Malone: A Gaggle of Goblins. Both are aimed at ages 8 to 12, but even adults can enjoy the adventures of these plucky kids!

In Wednesday, Princess Celie and her siblings are dealing with not only the crazy changes the castle is doing…and on a Wednesday none-the-less…..but she and her oldest brother are trying to keep a baby griffin secret! And when your baby griffin eats anything and everything (including your sister’s favorite shoes) and is learning to fly that is a lot hard then it seems!

Where do you hide when you are Invisible?

Coming-of-age was never so interesting or so real. Natalie Whipple has created a story that is funny, sad, and even hopeful about the trials and tribulations about just fitting in, when ironically you stand out more than anyone in the novel, Transparent.

Fiona is the first invisible girl. Which makes her the perfect pawn in her crime-boss fathers world. But all she wants is to be a normal 16-year-old. Not the thief, and now murderer, her father wants her to be. Running away with her mother should be easy. Except when you are one-of-kind, everyone knows who you are and your father has your own brother hunting you down, where can an invisible girl hide?

For ages 13 up. This is the perfect summer trilling adventure.
