Michael Pollan does it again! This book is a fascinating view into the world of psychedelics from the vantage point of a skeptical journalist. Part science, part history, part personal journey, Pollan weaves a narrative that is both highly entertaining and deeply interesting. The therapeutic potential of psychedelics is revealed in depth. Anyone who is interested in the science of the mind or the experience of psychedelics will enjoy this book.— Chris Morrow
Coming from a skeptic's perspective myself I found Pollan's book not only accessible but both engaging and divinely well written. This is the perspective the psychedelic culture desperately needed to voice their triumphs, and Pollan does more than sing the praises for psychedelics as a means to heal and expand ourselves, but tackles the controversial history surrounding it without feeling like he needs to defend it.
Complete with a dynamic cast of characters who help and guide him along the way, we learn as he learns, and we take these trips along with him through the importance of storytelling, discovering the intimate details about the mind that these substances uncover. Where might all this be going? It seems only time may tell, and perhaps Pollan himself.
