Celaena Sardothien is a teenage assassin who has been living and working in a mining prison for the past year. She is offered a chance for freedom, but the catch is that she must participate in a competition among other highly skilled warriors to become the king's champion. A dystopian world for teens reminiscent of Game of Thrones, I'd read this book for Celaena alone-- but I didn't have to! Enjoyable and memorable; read this book if you like the magic in Game of Thrones and the competition in The Hunger Games.

— Paige Mushaw

The first book in the Throne of Glass series sets up the fantasy world of assassins, Fae creatures, and magic. In a kingdom ruled by a tyrant who has outlawed magic and rules from his throne of glass, the notorious assassin Celaena Sardothien has been summoned from the salt mines to a competition to become the King's Champion and win her freedom. A super fast read with a cool twisty mystery and romantic triangle, Maas manages to avoid the worst tropes of the genre, and her Celaena is one badass girl assassin. — Paul Thompson

Throne of Glass is simply unputdownable. It is a fast-paced, action-packed read filled with romantic tension and twists around every corner. New and old fans of Sarah J. Maas will devour this first book. In fact, you may want to have book two at the ready!

Cassidy Washburn

Reminiscent of the Hunger Games series, this story follows young Celaena Sardothien, an assassin who has been removed from her imprisonment camp to be the kings champion in a ruthless competition to the death. As the competition goes on Celaena makes an unlikely friend, starts a dangerous romance and discovers magical secrets about the king, kingdom and herself. Filled with mystery, magic, murder and romance; it's hard NOT to love the first book in this fantastic series.

Lethal. Loyal. Legendary.

Enter the world of Throne of Glass with the first book in the #1 bestselling series by Sarah J. Maas.

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King's Champion.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. And a princess from a faraway country will befriend her. But something rotten dwells in the castle, and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying mysteriously, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival-and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Thrilling and fierce, Throne of Glass is the first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series that has captivated readers worldwide.
