Border Lines: a poetry collection by Carol Cone, Bill Heinrich, Lynn McCloe, Will Meyer, Claire North, and Mary Scriber. In the Autumn of 2012, Northshire Bookstore added a Poetry Reading Book Group to its extensive list of sponsored book groups. By January of 2013 the group had expanded by unanimous and uproarious decision into a Poetry Writing/Reading Group. January of 2014 had a poetry book in full progress, the outline solidified during a writing retreat at a Monastery. The poets’ polyglot talents of art, editing, previous publishing experience, and critiquing skills coalesced to create a self-publishing adventure where ideas deployed research, midnight oil was burned profligately, local Inns resounded to raucous laughter…and Border Lines: a poetry collection, is now in the world.
As Jon Mathewson says in the book’s Foreward, “…In an area encompassing parts of Bennington County, Vermont and Washington County, New York, several poets have found themselves writing together for a couple of years now, and have put together this book. The poets do not represent a school of poetry, they are too dissimilar from each other for that, unless you consider them a school of fish, traveling together through contemporary currents. Or think of them as a copse of trees, this book a bench on which to rest for a while. Sit down; enjoy this aspect, this facet, of contemporary poetry fro a while. It's a nice place to spend some time, before moving on."
