Chris Kimball grew up on a family farm in a small town in Vermont. He brings a love of the country and traditional ways to this wonderful compendium of country cooking. He combines delightful anecdotes with well-tested recipes, from the soup pot to the root cellar to the cookie jar; from covered-dish suppers to down-on-the-farm holidays. — Barbara Morrow
