A dystopian novel in which girls, at the start of puberty, must leave home and report to a station to draw a ticket. The ticket will determine their future.. If they draw a "white ticket", they are to go off and marry and have children. If they draw a "blue ticket", a device is implanted in them, to prevent pregnancy, and they are to settle into a career. In this story, Calla draws a "blue ticket". She follows the path expected of her and begins her career. After many years she begins to feel unfulfilled and decides to remove her device and get pregnant. Calla is forced to live a life on the run. She then discovers that she is not the only "blue ticket" woman who has chosen to defy their fate. A fantastic read. I could not put this book down. ~ Reviewed by Lori Stalcup
