Once I started this book, I could not put it down until I finished. This novel starts out introducing us to Emily, a young woman who has willingly had her memory erased in order to make a new life for herself. However, in this case the past won't stay buried as Emily's old life comes back to haunt her. As the reader, you'll soon find yourself swept up with Emily in a tale of mystery, thriller and conspiracy as she finds herself hunted by a secret society set on revenge that they hope to gain by killing. The book is fast paced and will keep you guessing until the very last page as along with the protagonist, you're trying to guess who can or cannot be trusted, as well as what kind of secret would make someone willingly erase their memories. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams

This book is a new story on the fae, but set in a different world than the rest of Marr's novels. In Seven Black Diamonds, we meet Lilywhite "Lily" Abernathy, the daughter of a crime boss, and a criminal herself, but only because of her faery heritage. Protected her whole life up until now, Lily is sent by her father to a school, where she meets others of her kind who turn out to be part of a faery sleeper cell tasked with killing humans. As Lily becomes friends with these half fae, she learns more about her own heritage, begins to fall for one of these faeries, and finds herself drawn into the dangerous world of faery politics.
I really enjoyed this new faery world that Marr has created and love the premise behind it. Faeries and humans are at war over the earth's pollution, which while only hinted at in the books, is beyond reversing, and has wiped out almost entire continents. The technology and human parts of this world are eerily similar to our own, and has left me wondering if this is where Marr believes we are headed. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams

If you like books with a dystopian/post apocalyptic futures, advanced technology, mythology, and reality TV, then this book might be for you. Set in a distant future that's part futuristic, part post apocalyptic, humanity is trying to recover from a rip in reality that has caused monsters from every mythology imaginable (known as otherworlders) to spill into the human world. Humanity's only hope of fighting these monsters off is a small group of "hunters", humans with a magical ability to work with hounds the only 'good' monsters to come from the otherworld. This book was a little tough for me to get into at first, but by then end I had fallen in love with this world.
Lackey has created a unique magic system, with enough leeway to expand on the way the characters interact with this magic, but with enough rules to ground the magic in this new reality. I'm all for mythology done in new and interesting ways, and I can't wait to see where this new series goes. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams

I loved the premise of this book, from the first page I was hooked. A thousand years after a catastrophic event forces humanity to the edge of extinction, two colonies created to help save the earth, are on the brink of destruction themselves as they learn that it is time to return to the surface of earth. At the bottom of the sea, we meet Myra, a young engineer struggling to survive in religious almost cult like thirteenth continuum. In the vast reaches of space we meet Aero, a young captain from the second continuum who will lead the first ground mission back on earth.
The novel starts out with a dystopian/ post apocalyptic feel, but quickly turns more into science fiction with underwater colonies, advanced spaceship technologies, and the "beacons" small bracelet sized pieces of technology that after melding with whoever claims them, are supposed to show the way back to earth and to the first continuum. This novel is the first in a trilogy, and I'm interested to see where the next novel will take these characters. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams

In 2001 the author's mother was murdered in the Arizona desert, possibly by her 5th husband, an ex cop. Persistent memories and unrelenting pain drive a quest to make sense of her life and death. A searing, spare, unexpected mother-son memoir. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams

If you watched the Clone Wars animated tv series, you should read this book. It continues the story of Asaj Ventress after her last episode in the series and will put you right back into the action. Including favorite characters like Obi Wan, Anakin, Master Yoda and Mace Windu, as well as expanding on the character of Quinlan Vos. This book deals with what it truly means to be a jedi, and how close even some of the strongest Jedi knights can get to going to the dark side. ~ Reviewed by Amy Williams
