A surreal, and mildly disturbing 112 page novel, narrated by Asa, who moves to the countryside with her husband for his new job. It's an unusually hot summer, and Asa passes the time meandering through the woods, cleaning the house, and walking through town. Incrementally, she becomes troubled by mysterious encounters with unidentifiable creatures, strangers in the 7-eleven and her in-laws. Reality becomes disorganized, as sentences repeat, characters appear, then vanish, and Asa slips further into what feels like insanity. This short novel doesn't leave you with any answers- it's a beautiful, slow burning fever dream. ~ Reviewed by Allegra Krieger
