Norman Skanon got his start as a house framer in New England and soon became a fulltime professional framing carpenter, doing his own framing and home remodeling projects across the Mid-Atlantic. He has worked in historic buildings and high rises, as well as new homes. In the 1980s he began writing about carpentry, home improvements, and home remodeling, and has written articles and book chapters for many prominent publications.
