Delly Porter enjoys the dirt beneath her feet as she walks. But another student makes fun of her by pointing out how poor this makes Delly and her family. When the school does a fund raiser to help buy art supplies, Delly's (with a little love, some imagination and a lot of spunk) talent for art helps fix a broken pair of very special orange shoes. With these shoes, and a special contest, Delly's learns that somethings are more important than money.
