Northshire Bookstore Review(s)

Reviewed By... Jessica Wood

Set against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War, this account of the Story family and their struggles makes for a very exciting, page turning read. Not only is the War uppermost in their minds, living in the wilderness is no easy task; Indians who don't know whom to trust are plentiful, as are bears and wolves. Ann Story, the fabled "mother" of the Green Mountain Boys, is a strong character as is the hero of the story, Solomon Story. ages 8-12.

Other VT Tidbits...
The Green Mountain Boys were instrumental figures during the Revolutionary War.

Publisher Comments

Based on events in the life of Solomon Story, Edgar Jackson's historical novel for young readers is set in the days before the Revolutionary War. Follow the Story family as they try to carve out a new life in the wilderness of the Green Mountains under the growing threat of war.
