A beautiful collection of photographs of New England's most treasured covered bridges by renowned photographer Jeffrey E. Blackman.BR>
When Jeffrey Blackman set out to capture New England's covered bridges on film, his goal was to create not just a pretty, postcard-perfect picture but to tell a story about each bridge's history and usage throughout the years. He carefully studied each bridge from many angles before shooting, and took pains to show the environment surrounding each bridge in its photo. A special section about trusses explains the carefully engineered design of the bridges, and how and why these massive, carefully built matrixes of wood hold the bridges together.
Covered Bridges of New England will appeal to the thousands of visitors who come to New England each summer and fall to see the bridges and want to take home a little memento from their trip. Full-color throughout, 1 map.
For more than 30 years, Jeffrey E. Blackman's photography has been featured in numerous high-profile print publications including Life, Newsday, American Preservation, Polo Magazine, Penthouse, United Airlines in-flight magazines, and others. Among his assignments are the ice festival in Sapporo, Japan; the marble quarries of Pietrasanta, Italy; the Formula One in Monaco; and NASCAR races and PGA tournaments throughout the U.S. He lives in Wilmot, NH.
