Northshire Bookstore Review(s)

Reviewed By... Summer Edge 03

It seems that Poetry "month" just hasn't been long enough for us in 2003, so we've found ourselves celebrating Poetry Year instead. Or perhaps, more accurately, we're celebrating poetry itself and the news to be found there every day of the year. As a result of our February event, "A Poetry Reading in Honor of the Right to Protest as a Patriotic and Historical Tradition" the renowned publisher George Braziller has published Cry Out: Poets Protest the War , a collection of the poems read that day by Galway Kinnell, Donald Hall, Julia Alvarez, Grace Paley, Ruth Stone, Greg Delanty,David Budbill, Jay Parini, Jody Gladding, William O¹Daly, and Jamaica Kincaid.

Publisher Comments

Those who practice "the miraculous art of stitching words into a web" have "not merely the right but the duty to protest and dissent."—Edward Morrow
