Northshire Bookstore Review(s)

Reviewed By... Bob Gray

This marvelous little volume is part of the "Everyman's Library Pocket Poets" series. Despite its diminutive size, this is a high quality collection of Frost's poetry, very reasonably priced in this hardcover format. The poems were selected and edited by poet John Hollander, and range from the familiar -- "Mending Wall," "Birches," and "Out, Out---" to less well known works like "Maple." Hollander's brief forward describes Frost's characteristic poetic voice as a form of talk that is "high and yet colloquial." A marvelous gift edition for anyone who loves that voice.

Publisher Comments

rom one of the most brilliant and widely read of all American poets, a generous selection of lyrics, dramatic monologues, and narrative poems--all of them steeped in the wayward and isolated beauty of Frost's native New England. Includes his classics "Mending Wall, " "Birches, " and "The Road Not Taken, " as well as poems less famous but equally great.
