Northshire Bookstore Review(s)

Reviewed By... Jeanette

Ruby Tuesday thinks she is pretty normal. So, her brother got married on the beach and the bride was wearing a bikini? And so what if her mother is a rock-n-roll groupie who is never around and named her after a favorite song? It isn't like her dad works for a bookie or anything? Right? When Ruby's father's winning ticket becomes the hottest item in town, Ruby's world is thrown for a loop. The adventures that follow will find her taking a trip to Las Vegas where she finally not only finds out a little about her unusual mother, she learns that her abrasive Grandmother is known in Vegas not only for her pet iguana, and Ruby finds herself and what it means to be truly strong. A wonderfully fantastic mix of humor, realism and a little more than a dash of what is known as family, Ruby Tuesday is one of the best new voices in teen literature.

Publisher Comments

Ruby Tuesday's life just got a little bit crazier.

When a murder in the family exposes some unexpected secrets, Ruby Tuesday has to leave her parents' O.C. beach house for a life-or-death road trip to Vegas. Her mom's closest friends are rock stars and her father is a professional gambler, but neither of them has prepared Ruby Tuesday for what's waiting in Nevada. Ruby needs a crash course, and she's about to get one, straight from the queen of hearts.

Jennifer Anne Kogler graduated cum laude from Princeton University in 2003 with a B.A. in English. While at Princeton she wrote Ruby Tuesday, which began as her senior thesis and became her first published novel. She is the youngest sibling to six brothers and a sister; a longtime fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers; and an annual participant in the Kogler family Christmas low-stakes poker tournament. She lives in California, where she was born and raised.
