Great American Mousical

One of my favorite early chapter books, The Great American Mousical is filled with illustrations of the cast and characters of a mouse theatrical company. The mice have taken over a scale model of a Broadway theater that they found collecting dust in the theater's basement. When Adelaide, the company diva, is caught in a Havahart trap and spirited out of the city in a pick-up truck, there is high drama as she tries to get back to the city before opening night AND before a wrecking ball the mice have spotted tears the whole building down! As the story unfolds the reader can refer to a glossary in the back and see just what "maestro" and "proscenium" mean; or look in the front at the mice's bios and "head shots."
