This may not be a completely faithful adaptation of James Barrie's tale of the boy who never has to grow up, but it is one of the Disney animated films that has remained near the top of my favorites since I was a child. The delightful songs, by Sammy Fain and Sammy Cahn include The Second Star To the Right and You Can Fly. The story is not hampered by a cloying romantic subplot and Captain Hook (voiced by Hans Conreid) and Mr. Smee are villains in the noble tradition of the Wicked Witch, Maleficient, and Lady Tremaine. The flight over London is one of the most breathtaking pre-computer animated sequences ever done. Director Clyde Geronimi (Pinocchio) was arguably Disney's greatest animator. This two-disc edition contains many extras.
