Laura Molinelli has been playing the "local" scene for the past 15 years, whether it be downtown New York City or the inns and taverns of New England. With three self-produced albums of original material under her belt , she has just completed her fourth release, "Moon in the Hand of a Girl".

Laura has shared the stage with some major acts, opening for such artists as: Lucinda Williams, Dar Williams, Lucy Kaplansky, John Gorka, The Band, NRBQ, The Samples, Louise Taylor, Lisa McCormack, Lou Gramm (former lead singer for 80s supergroup, Foreigner!) and most recently, "The Legendary Lead Singers of the Temptations - feauturing Glen Leonard.

The Brattleboro Reformer calls her voice "sweet and rich as it resonate(s) with that plaintive sound of bluegrass singers...So when she sings about places far away and unfamiliar you can't help but long to be there too"

Born in New York and raised both there and in Vermont, one wouldn't imagine her to have a "bluegrass" voice. Thanks to her older sister and brothers, she was very much influenced by the alternative country and folk artists of the mid-seventies, such as Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. Still, being exposed to many different styles of music (her father worked for BMI and often brought home warehouse overstocks of Jazz, R&B, Broadway Musical, Classical) has given her the inspiration to transcend genres with many different vocal stylings.

According to the Rutland Herald she "writes with intense imagery and emotion", which may be a result of having written her own lyrics and music for over twenty years, and being strongly encouraged as a child to nurture the imagination. Now the mother of her own child, she continues to draw inspiration from her own life and the lives of others -some of the songs turning out more like "moments" and some actually telling a story.

Currently, she performs as a solo artist (with and without a backing band) and also as a member of the Southern Vermont based bluegrass band, "The Bondville Boys".
