Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The (2010)

Longish, but generally involving adaptation of a publishing phenomenon. At its heart, Steig Larsson's book was an old-fashioned whodunit spiced up with some kinky interludes and enlivened by a very atypical heroine. An investigative journalist is hired by a wealthy man to look into the disappearance of his niece 40 years earlier, almost certainly at the hands of a member of his extensively greedy family. If the complex plot is a bit too dependent on coincidences, it is still intriguing to watch the reporter zero in on his quarry. Niels Arden Oplev directed.
