Julie Harris gives another brilliant, many-layered performance as the tragic widow of Abraham Lincoln. Still reeling from the deaths of her husband and son, Mary Todd Lincoln becomes increasingly eccentric. Her extravagance has led to financial troubles and a strained relationship with her eldest son, Robert. Mary also must watch helplessly as her beloved youngest child, Tad (Robby Benson), slips away from her and succumbs to consumption. One of the great performances on the American stage has been expertly transferred to film.
