Underappreciated Robert Atman (Nashville, The Player, Gosford Park, A Prairie Home Companion) masterwork about a trio of bank robbers in the 1930s. Perfectly captures the desperate edge of those perilous times and the film's attention to period detail is evocative and extraordinary. Peopled with many members of the director's stock company of actors and featuring outstanding performances by Duval, Schuck, and Louise Fletcher. Easily one of the top half dozen Altman movies and that is high praise indeed!
