Thornton Wilder co-wrote the script for this tense thriller about a serial killer known as the Merry Widow murderer. When the law starts closing in on him, he takes refuge with his sister's family in a peaceful California town. His niece, who has shared a bond with him all her life, begins to suspect the terrible truth. This was the movie that, along with The Trouble With Harry, director Alfred Hitchcock often named as his personal favorite. Wonderful cast, including Joseph Cotten, Patricia Collinge, Hume Cronyn, Teresa Wright, Henry Travers and Macdonald Carey.
