Birds, The

What would happen to us humans if our feathered friends decided to get even for all of the chicken dinners that we have enjoyed? That is the question that is posed in The Birds, Alfred Hitchcock's biggest box-office success. Tippi Hedren plays a spoiled rich woman who becomes involved in a mysterious attack by thousands of birds on a small seaside town in California. Nail biting suspense combined with Oscar-nominated special effects. The climactic attack on Miss Hedren took an entire week to film, one that the actress would later characterize as "the worst week of my life." Also starring Rod Taylor, Susanne Pleschette and Jessica Tandy. The script by Evan Hunter was based very loosely on a short story by Daphne Du Maurier.
