Hell & High Water

Typical mixture of director Sam Fuller's (The Naked Kiss, Fixed Bayonets, Shock Corridor) heroics and corn. Richard Widmark plays a submarine commander, who heads up a clandestine mission to attempt to determine whether atomic weapons are being developed on a remote island in the northern part of the Pacific Ocean. Tense action with Fuller's sledgehammer Cold War political slant thrown in for good measure. The top-notch supporting cast includes Gene Evans, Victor Francen, Cameron Mitchell, and David Wayne.
